Wizard, also known as Dr. Dorothy “Dot” Prescott, is a fictional character in Diane Duane's "Young Wizards" series. A brilliant theoretical physicist in her adult life, Dot initially appears as a troubled, socially awkward teenager.

She is first introduced in So You Want to Be a Wizard, where she is saved from bullies by Nita Callahan and subsequently joins the Young Wizards program. Unlike Nita, who is generally outgoing, Dot struggles with social interactions and prefers the company of machines and complex theoretical problems.

Dot's aptitude for advanced math and physics quickly makes her a valuable asset to the Young Wizards community. She possesses a near-photographic memory and is able to grasp complex magical principles with ease. Her abilities are frequently employed in situations requiring technical solutions or the manipulation of space-time.

Throughout the series, Dot's character undergoes significant development as she learns to manage her social anxieties and embrace her unique talents. Despite her initial struggles, she becomes a formidable Wizard, consistently demonstrating loyalty and courage in the face of overwhelming odds.
